A long exposure of the sea at ‘Praia de Feiticeira’ (Feiticeira beach) on Ilha Grande (RJ, Brazil). The sea urchin up front at the beach was the perfect addition, and hopefully he made it back to the sea with the next tide.

A life of chronic sickness

Listen, I know it's #Caturday, but can I just take a minute to show you how lovely the sky was last night?

Taken at #ElkIslandNationalPark

Green aurora borealis ripples in the sky. Underneath, a cluster of trees on an island in the middle of Astotin Lake are silhouetted against the clear and starry sky. The lake is still frozen, creating a snow-covered foreground, with a few grasses peeking through to remind us it's actually spring.

Wednesday, one second, handheld, in the Stockton tunnel.

Still experimenting with capturing teh motion without a tripod. This one worked fairly well, especially since it had dramatic lighting. But I think the answer is to bring a tripod. Most of what I tried that day failed.

A view down a car, bike, and pedestrian tunnel in San Francisco. The tunnel has wainscoting of bright red brick... and a bright splash of daylight at the end near Union Square. The lines in the photo, created by the walls, lane markers, and ceiling lights, all converge in the distance, at the bright splash of light.

On the left, the blurry, ghostly outline of a person appears in one of the pools of light. It is a man walking towards Chinatown and away from the splash of light behind him.

On the right, the lights of a passing bus can be seen pass the bus travels down the tunnel. And in the distance, a car is about to enter the bright light that is not heaven.

There is 201 seconds of movement recorded in this photo. I dig long exposures man. If a photo were to capture souls, imagine the amount of souls I got in this one.

Seriously though, this stuff fascinates me. Photography has a lot to do with time, and time is.. well, time is really weird.

Anyway, let's go back to drinking morning coffee.

A few days ago, in the comment section of another post, I maligned the Golden Gate Bridge... saying it was so over-photographed that it had become completely banal and uninspiring to me.

Well that's still true. *chuckles*

But that doesn't mean I won't post the picture of the bridge every now and then. Because when you're a San Franciscan, you are required to take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge at least once a year.

It's the law.
