“Sand Dune Abstract” — Sand dune patterns in evening light, Death Valley.
I first photographed this specific subject in Death Valley well over a decade ago, and perhaps closer to two decades. I “discovered” it by accident while driving back from visiting an entirely different feature. I had stopped in this location to photograph other things, and as I scanned the landscape I noticed this section of almost pure sand dunes. I went here again this year at the end of February when the light on my intended subject died early, and I thought I might be able to work with the soft light in this spot…continues: https://gdanmitchell.com/2025/03/16/sand-dune-abstract/

Cyprus black as e'er was crow;
Gloves as sweet as damask roses;
Masks for faces and for noses"

Mid-March and Reynisfjara¹, the famous black beach in southern #Iceland, is completely deserted apart from ourselves.
Fiercely cold but exceptionally beautiful. Only the wailing of sea-birds and soft lapping of the waves disturbed the peace.

Guten Morgen, ich war früh im Bett und zeitig wach. Der #mond hing noch tief und die Sonne kroch auf der anderen Seite aus dem Bett als der Hund und ich loszogen.
Habt einen wirklich erholsamen Sonntag!
Another photo of one of the ancient 'alberi' down in the old abandoned vineyard. They were pruned into this shape as scaffolding for the vines which were strung between them.

A minimalist image from a pretty spectacular morning exploring inversion conditions in the Scottish highlands.

hello there, I'm back. I had no internet for 5 days straight and had some minor damage around the house due to the cyclone.
Here is a Dragon for you. I think it might like salty water. Or maybe it just came to see the sunset? Or possible it is just a Sea Dragon coming back home.
Spring is almost with us but the weather is wet and stormy.

Time as passed quiet a bit since my last post.
Lately I been endeavouring shooting black and white in my local forest. It enable me to be more creative and shoot in condition I would probably have disregarded before. Like on the following where it is midday with no fog ;)
This Photo is from a gigantic Gumtree in the rainforest of Tamborine mountain.

A little full moon rising at sunset overshadowed by the big thunderhead.
#Hiking the ridge of a mountain gives nonstop great views. This was my view when I snowshoed up to this ridge last month in the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire. I’ve hiked long sections of this ridge in the past, but only went a short distance this time. So great to be up there! #FootpathFriday #winter #snowshoeing
I am not sure if I've posted this one before. But since I don't have a #photo for #fensterfreitag I'm going for either #fungusfriday (if that's a thing here on Mastodon) or #foggyfriday (if that's also a thing):
