In the calm after storm Darragh, a Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) was wading along and trying their luck on the Rhyne in Portishead.

I don't know whether they were the same individual I'd seen back at the beginning of November catching a Roach (Rutilus rutilus)..?

Day 5 of bird week saw us at RSPB Lakenheath Fen. Details below:

We headed out to the New Fen viewpoint to start, as we got there a lovely couple had a quick chat and told us we had just missed a Kingfisher.

We had a bit of a wait around but there wasn’t much showing itself. Eventually a Grey Heron flew in briefly before also deciding there wasn’t much going on here and flying off.
