For #MountainMonday: A photo from way back in 2013: wildflowers and a view of the Tatoosh Range from Mazama Ridge in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington State, USA. While Rainier gets all the attention, I almost preferred photographing the Tatoosh during my trips down there.

Some purple and yellow wildflowers in the foreground with green small shrubs, small trees, and a few peaks of the tatoosh range in the background. This photo was made at sunset, so there is sunset light on the mountain peaks and one small ridge with trees on it, with a leftover patch of snow in the shadows of that ridge.

In this photo, bokeh plays the leading role. I really like bokeh, also because it is always a surprise how it works out. A green meadow full of yellow buttercups. Iinks in the middle 1 buttercup sharp, all others vague. Sometimes vague flowers, sometimes just balls, a green vague background full. Lots of sunny cheerfulness to be a little happy about.

Here's another shot of that lovely liverwort from yesterday (previous post). I took this with my 200-500mm wildlife lens. Gonna try to get back to #ClearCreekTrail with the macro lens so I can get closer/better detail.

Popping in from hiatus to post this beauty. This is liverwort (Anemone hepatica) & it's one of my absolute favorites. I look for it in early #spring on #ClearCreekTrail. Usually find 1-2 plants but this yr found a whole patch.

28/03/2025 - The wild flowers are really starting to pop round here now. Photos of four new flowers for the year for me from my walk today. Great to see them back.

Common Chickweed - By the roadside, where I see most of my flowers.
Wood Forget-me-not - I think, I'm not very good with ID-ing these.
Wood-sorrel - First of the year and one of my favourites.
Danish Scurvygrass - These just love the salty roadsides.

Wood Forget-me-not. Tiny pale blue flowers but big for a Forget-me-not.

Wood-sorrel. A gentle white flower in the woods.

Danish Scurvygrass. Many tiny flowers by the roadside. They love the gritted roads. I do get a few looks from vehicles passing by when taking photos of these but I don't care much, they don't know what they are missing.

Plum blossom. April 2017

Close-up photo of a plum blossom, on its first full day out as a flower. White petals are splayed out on two brightly lit flowers but we're seeing them edge-wise mostly so what we really see are white stringy things poking out from the center of the flowers. I'm shaky on the names and can't be arsed to look it up, but they're either pistils or stamens, talkin about flower porn. There are 3 bright green leaves in a trefoil pattern below the two flowers, all at the top of a stem rising from the bottom of the image. There are dark gray stems below and behind the flowers, the background is shades of dark green. Taken in one of the many natural refuges scattered around Fort Collins and Larimer County, CO. April 2017

Claytonia sarmentose, also called spring beauty, is one of the early wildflowers I start looking for each year. The curled stigma is one of its most distinctive features.

The tightly curled stamens of a Bottlebrush (Callistemon) just starting to burst from their buds

Numerous tightly-packed buds of thin, bright-red filaments wrapped together. Each bud is spaced evenly around a central stem, and wrapped in soft, slightly hairy green calyxes. The buds on each side of the cluster are further advanced, and we can see the filaments uncurling like an octopuses tentacles

A trio of pasque flowers in bloom low to the pine-needle covered ground near a hiking trail. Each flower has six whitish-lavender petals and a fuzzy yellow center.

A cluster of blooming, yellow oregon grape flowers in the center of a plant stem lined with green, sawtoothed, holly-like leaves, growing close to the ground covered in dried, brown pine needles.

A group of tiny, pinkish-purple spring beauty flowers — some in bloom and some still unopened buds, each flower with five petals, growing near the ground among dried pine needles and scattered, dried pine cones.

The grape hyacinth ignored the one day of snow and burst upon the scene in rich color.

Six grape hyacinth plants stand upright amidst fallen oak leaves and bits of spring grass. They are tightly packed blue-purple flowers in a cylindrical shape on a stalk. There’s a gray rock behind them.

Went on several hikes over the weekend, first one to find wildflowers, the second to take local people to a nearby wilderness area. Lots of wildflowers on both. Flowers below are two of my early spring favorites, bloodroot and bluebells. Yay it's finally spring!! #Hiking #Wildflowers

Pedicularis lanata (Woolly Lousewort) blooming near Nome Creek in the White Mountains, Alaska, in late May. The edible roots taste somewhat like carrots.
