The finished, updated and extended land of Nicea. The new sections are to the far west and east. Seeing the ocean on both sides frames the continent and improves the map more than I would have guessed. The real delight of this map is how well loved the world is by the family that runs their dnd game there, I try to add details from the games and honour the representation of a very special fantasy realm. #dndmap #cartography #rpg #dnd #maps

#DnD has always been a poorly designed game, mostly because it wasn't "designed", really, so much as it is the result of a hodge-podge of historical, anecdotal practices of individual gaming groups that doesn't have any actual coherency.
This makes D&D an even worse basis for a videogame than it is for a #TTRPG. The only way to turn D&D into a good game is to throw most of the rules out the window, and you obviously can't do that with a computer game that slavishly reproduces its faults.
