So to be clear, Donald Trump ignored a federal judge's orders when he attempted to invoke a wartime act from the 18th century to illegally deport thousands with no due process under the auspices of being gang members (with as little proof as "too much skin art") and therefore "international terrorists", claiming that the Chief Justice has no authority over him, disobeying the court order, and continuing to commit his crimes.
Trump's border czar stated, “We’re not stopping. I don’t care what the judges think — I don’t care what the left thinks. We’re coming.”
The normal route for a law abiding person who doesn't agree with a judge's order would be to follow the order then appeal it, to a higher court if need be. There were plenty of legal options available to him (which I will add, are blocked to those who are less privileged).
The only truth Trump stated was that "no one man has authority", because unlike the Trump administration, no one man in the legal system has the last word. Although Trump's attempt was to make this assertion against Judge Boasberg rather than himself.
Instead, when questioned why Trump disobeyed a court order, he responded by calling for the judge to be impeached, calling Judge Boasberg a "Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator", indicating that he was "sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama", despite the fact that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court who rebuked him for this blatant disregard of the law, Judge Roberts, is a conservative institutionalist appointed by George W. Bush.
“For more than two centuries,” the chief justice wrote in an issued statement, “it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.”
"This is wartime." "I can tell my enemies by the way they look, and that makes them a terrorist and enemy of the state." "The court of law has no authority over me." "Anybody who disagrees with me is a radical left lunatic."
It's extremely important to note how any challenge to his authoritarian rule is labeled as "the left", by both Trump and his entire administration, as "the radical left" if the challenge is strong enough. Rather than from democratic and legal systems and a constitution which have been enshrined in the nation for centuries.
If anyone from "the left" had any hope that Trump's regime could be tamed or controlled, it was because they believed that his Presidential powers could still be put in check by the laws of the land. Trump is dead set to prove that hope wrong.
