I am working on the upcoming release of my insect magnets! 🦋
Today, I finished 5 purple moths (I put the finished ones on my girls’ cage hehe), I will get started on the beetles tomorrow!

There will be 5 of each model available for the first drop. I’m hoping to release them on Sunday. I will keep you updated!

#sewing friends, I'm somewhat incapacitated and watching cozy sewing videos on YouTube is one of the things I can do today, with my limited energy and brain power.

I have basically watched Bernadette Banner's channel up and down.

Do you have recommendations for costuming/sewing channels? Bonus points for queer creators.

I am not doing good at time management or indeed any approximation of knowing what day it is, but today was the last day to drop off art for the Somerville Open Studios and I managed to get this done just in time. Despite 1) running out of black thread (howwwww) and 2) goofing up the insignia the first time. Still. She looks good.

I probably did not need to agonize as much as I did over whether it’s the right shade of teal/blue but who am I even if I can’t overthink things.

Appliqué embroidery on a thrifted T-shirt which I made after punk singer Poly Styrene died in 2011.
This was before I even owned a sewing machine so I had to stitch the letters on by hand.
I can't remember where the green satin came from but I still have the spool of neon yellow thread. 😂
The T-shirt doesn't exist anymore but I salvaged the embroidery and turned it into a patch.

I made a new dress from wool my grandmother bought many (many) years ago. A combination of the Ashland dress bodice and Misses’ fit and flare skirt (m7599) with added pockets and the tiniest pleat. Also, topstitching. That hem is very long. #sewing

Me looking a bit blurry in an armless midnight blue dress with princess seams and waist topstitched in golden gray embroidery thread. Metal buttons down the front of the bodice. This picture shows how tiny pleats in what is almost a circle skirt makes it fall neatly in the front.

Really trying to be extremely creative to add in at least some of the gold tones, as my gold ribbon is the wrong weight and texture to go with the rest... The hat doesn't entirely need it, but I want it to be more bumblebee coloured than it is!

A photo of a stack of ribbon decorations in a sort of bow shape on a hat, pinned in place with a safety pin. There is black organza ribbon with a copper orange satin ribbon, very thin, perhaps only 5mm wide, sewn onto it. Under it is gray organza ribbon which has two rows of off white organza attached. Both are affixed to a little base hidden by the bows, but from which drape faceted black glass beads, with more amber and gold coloured tiny seed beads as sort of stems. Sini's pale hand is holding onto the hat. The colours are sort of vaguely reminiscent of a bumblebee, very abstracted.
Onto very narrow black organza ribbon there is a gold and honey tone embroidery thread sewn on by hand, in a running stitch. It stands out nicely from the black base. The ribbon has been folded into a little rosette of loops, and tucked into an ocean of black tulle netting on the hat. There is beaded hat veiling on the brim of the hat below, with what could be a little beaded dragonfly shape. The ends of the organza ribbon have just been knotted to keep them from unravelling, and this looks fairly fun also.

#Sewing & #Mending friends, I have a #question for you.

I have a top sheet with a ~25cm vertical tear inside the body of the sheet (i.e., it's landlocked).

I want to mend it in a good enough way. I'm **not going to sew it**, make it look pretty, etc. I just want to not stick my foot through it in the night.

Current best option: duct tape (which is probably not ideal).

Is there a fast, easy way to make a non-sewing fix? Like a fabric tape or something? 1/n
