That's good news. We need this in every European Capitol, week by week, for strong democracy based on collaboration instead of supression and parasitism.
Everyone should live free and save in the Schengen area
The good thing, every country who overcome its corrupt elites will make EU stronger.
"Hundreds of thousands of people descended on Serbia's capital on Saturday to protest over the deaths of 15 people in a railway station collapse.
While the government put attendance at 107,000 across Belgrade, an independent monitor said 325,000 - if not more - had gathered, making it Serbia's largest protest ever."
Hundreds of thousands gathered against impunity, autogenocide, and oligarchy. A government that doesn't stand with it's people, stands against them. #3E #EndImpunity #EndAutogenocide #EndOligarchy #SerbiaProtests
Probably the most authoritative crowd counting association in Serbia estimates between 275k and 325k people today. They emphasise that this is likely an undercount due to uncertainties in other parts of the city at that exact point in time.
To put those undercounted numbers into perspective:
- That is between 15% and 19.5% of Belgrade's total metro area population.
- That is between 4.2% and 4.9% of Serbia's total population.
Today in Belgrade, Serbia's largest anti government protest in history.
"Tens of thousands of people descended on Belgrade on Saturday for a mass rally seen as a culmination of months-long protests against Serbia's populist President Aleksandar Vucic's government.
Large crowds of flag-waving protesters clogged the downtown area of the capital despite occasional rain, with people hardly able to move and many stuck hundreds of meters away from the planned protest venue.
Protesters converged after meeting up at several agreed-on protest venues in various parts of the city, which was placed on high alert. All public transport was cancelled."
"Under Vučić’s rule, Serbia has seen increasing authoritarian tendencies. These actions only deepen suspicions about his long-term priorities and intentions. If history has taught us anything, it’s that overlooking the Balkans often leads to unintended and far-reaching consequences."

On this day of protest, Belgrade is a powder keg, but just as important is how the president reacts – now and tomorrow | Brent Sadler https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/15/serbia-belgrade-day-of-protest-aleksandar-vucic?CMP=share_btn_url
"Tens of thousands of people from across Serbia are expected to join an anti-corruption rally in Belgrade, in what is seen as a culmination of months of protest that have shaken the grip of the country’s autocratic president, Aleksandar Vučić.
Tensions are running high, as the president’s supporters have begun setting up camp in a park in front of the presidential palace. Earlier this week, Vučić warned that security officers would use force against people at the rally, planned for Saturday."

"Students, followed by teachers and ordinary citizens, are walking to Belgrade on foot from all across Serbia to join a planned mass protest in the capital on Saturday. A welcome for them is being organised in Belgrade on Friday evening."

Last year, we took a week to drive slowly from Berlin along the "Balkan route" via the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and North Macedonia to my husband's Greek family's house on the Ionian Sea. This picture is from #NoviSad in #Serbia, where, like everywhere else, we met the nicest people and spent a lovely evening. I always think about it now when I hear news about today's remarkable protests there.
Don't show any Democrats this before Trump's address tonight. These ideas are dangerous.
Watch: Chaos as MPs throw smoke grenades in Serbian Parliament.
"At least three Serbian MPs have been injured after opposition members threw smoke grenades during a chaotic session inside the country's parliament on Tuesday.
Politicians were seen on live television clashing with security and launching tear gas in an apparent show of support for student protestors."
