Watched "The Missiles of October" over the weekend and found two and a half hours of men sitting in a room, talking, riveting.
Adapted from JFK's book, the Kennedys are portrayed as concerned about how the US, the leader of the Free World, will look if it attacks a small Caribbean country. No mention is made of the CIA engineered coup in Honduras during Eisenhower's administration.
Now watching some very funny comedy.

"Donald Trump has laid down a Ukraine-like ultimatum to Iran: either agree to give up your nuclear program within two months or suffer the consequences. He’s been vague about what these consequences might include, but I can now report specifics that are as severe as you can imagine.

“We can't let them have a nuclear weapon,” Trump says. “I would rather have a peace deal than the other option but the other option will solve the problem.”

To the casual observer that might sound like more of the targeted airstrikes the U.S. has been doing, but behind the scenes, as the Pentagon prepares for a "major" regional war with Iran, the use of nuclear weapons is on the table.

The new Iran war preparations that have been underway since last year include new nuclear options.

“One might find it extraordinary to think that nuclear weapons are even considered,” a retired senior military officer who has been briefed on the planning tells us, “but we have entered a new era.”

The officer says that a combination of factors — none of them precipitated by Donald Trump directly — have created a perfect storm to bring nuclear weapons back into the picture."

Last night I showed Threads to my #GenZ daughter for the first time. As Russia withdraws from its nuclear non-proliferation treaties and now France proposes expanding its nuclear umbrella, the message of Threads is unfortunately as relevant now as it was in 1984.

Today in Labor History February 21, 1958: The CND symbol (aka peace symbol) was designed and completed by Gerald Holtom. The Direct Action Committee (DAC) commissioned the project in protest against the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment. The DAC was a British pacifist organization that did non-violent direct action whose goal was the total renunciation of nuclear war and nuclear weapons. It existed from 1957 to 1961. They organized meetings, marches, vigils, pickets and acts of civil disobedience.
