Listening to the podcast from #TheLineCa this morning, they've already hit two strong points:
* Why would Pres. Trump prefer #MarkCarney to #PierrePoilievre? Because heretics are hated more than infidels.
* What's the simplest explanation for why Pres. Trump treated Mr. Carney more respectfully over the phone than he treated PM Trudeau? Personal dislike for #JustinTrudeau, or at least pleasure in antagonising him.

readtheline.ca/p/the-line-podc

Here are the three themes the #Conservatives need to play upon to win:

* #PierrePoilievre is pro-Canada/anti-Trump
* Canada is weak because of the #LostDecade of no per capita economic growth the Liberals delivered us
* #MarkCarney and #JustinTrudeau are linked (the #CPC should be delighted if they can get Mr. Carney to disavow his predecessor)

All those points are basically true, so they will sink in as the campaign proceeds. Will there be enough time though?

"This will be shocking news to #Canadians who blamed the #carbontax, or #immigrants, or #JustinTrudeau personally, for #inflation and #affordability challenges after the pandemic. It’s no accident that vested interests—from the #oil industry to the Conservative Party—have tried to divert Canadians’ righteous anger toward those scapegoats. They don’t want us to know where the true problem originated. "rabble.ca/economy/fossil-fuels

rabble.ca · Fossil fuels are hurting affordability, not helping itConservatives like to blame a lack of affordability in Canada on the carbon tax, but this is a misdirection from the real cause of rising prices.

Praise for a law recently brought in by the #JustinTrudeau ministry from Fr. #RaymondJDeSouza:

"In December — thankfully just weeks ahead of Parliament’s prorogation — royal assent was given to the Miscarriage of Justice Review Commission Act, known as David and Joyce Milgaard’s Law. It is named after one of Canada’s most famous wrongfully convicted murderers and the mother who never ceased to seek justice for her son."

Hard to believe the Conservatives managed to kill the #CarbonTax, without even winning an election first.

It's a shame though: decreasing carbon emissions ought to be one of the goals of the Canadian government, and raising the price of emissions was an economically efficient way to do so. Will either the #CPC or the #Liberals propose a new policy that will work and at a reasonable cost per tonne?

I wonder how #JustinTrudeau feels about his own party ending this key policy?

Mark Carney has been elected as the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, succeeding Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister. His victory was announced at an event in Ottawa at which Trudeau referred to the "existential crisis" the country faces from Donald Trump's threats of turning Canada into the 51st state, and closed his speech with the hockey expression "elbows up." Former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien described Canada's relationship with the U.S. as "falling apart before our eyes and becoming something that is difficult to name." Here's more from @GlobalNews.
