Mariposa Grove

Just inside the south gate of Yosemite by roughly 1/2 mile you find the parking lot to this magnificent grove of redwoods. From the parking lot there are a number hiking trails that one can take that are easy to moderate hikes.
I had this whole grove mostly to myself. I had time to shoot undisturbed and completely enjoyed the experience.

Mariposa Grove This is an image of a couple of giant redwood trees captured in Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park. The main focus of the image is a large redwood tree left center in the image. The bark of the tree looks very thick and the tree is extremely tall. If you look at the lower left corner of the image you can see a split rail fence that helps give you an idea of just how large these trees truly are. To the right of the main subject is another redwood, slightly smaller than the main subject. Between the two is yet a younger, smaller tree. The forest floor is covered in redwood needles and small branches. The background shows a smaller forest of trees.

The Posey era is already different. They've picked up at least $500K in international bonus signing money via trades and, from mlbtraderumors.com, comes this international signing:

"Josuar de Jesus Gonzalez, SS, Giants: Badler and Romero both note that some scouts have graded De Jesus as the top prospect overall in this year’s class (Sasaki excluded). MLB.com indeed ranks him as the top non-Sasaki talent in the class. Listed at 5’11” and 175 pounds, the 17-year-old switch-hitter draws 70 grades for his speed (on the 20-80 scale) and also plus bat speed and the defensive tools required to convince scouts he can stick at shortstop. He’s landing a $3MM bonus from San Francisco, Badler reports."

It's nice that the Giants got a good shortstop, Willy Adames, in free agency. You can tell it's a new era for the franchise under new guru Buster Posey because he's not even 30. Almost, but fans will take it. He's not a superstar, but he'll plug a hole left by hanging onto Brandon Crawford for nearly 500 years.

TBF, Brandon's first 498 years were great!

Interesting. The Giants have lost at least 3 coaches, but have added several front office personnel to aid Buster Posey. That includes Randy Winn, who will be, iirc, VP of Player Development. Buster had encouraged him to try for the GM job earlier.

The people surrounding Posey are all veterans of the Giants' organization. They are creating an environment in which he can succeed.

The coach losses include Alyssa Nakken, who had delivered a baby and was not traveling on the road last year. As the first woman to serve as a full-time coach in MLB history, I'm sorry to see her go. She has a position with the Guardians in player development, joining other ex-Giants under manager Stephen Vogt.

Reports say.. Daboll, #Giants HC, shopped his services before the 2021 season ended due to a disagreement with Sean McDermott's vision of the #Bills offense.

A year later, he won Coach of Year award and got intoxicated again.

In 2023, players and assistant saw who Daboll really is. He is NO Leslie Frazier or Sean.

Pretty soon he will be shopping his services again.
