🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 rhys 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿<p>Seen some FUD about <a href="https://mastodon.rhys.wtf/tags/Signal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Signal</span></a> since the Hegseth/Waltz thing.</p><p>Signal is still secure and still recommended by every security nerd you know.</p><p>The issues are that 1) public officials shouldn't be using commercial apps to discuss protected topics, 2) they shouldn't be doing so on personal phones, and, 3) they shouldn't be inviting journalists into their group chats while doing so (lol).</p><p>Don't let the dumbest people ever making an insane series of errors put you off the best secure messaging app.</p>

Die Beta-Version treibt dies noch weiter: Sobald der Assistent geöffnet wird, beginnt er automatisch mitzuhören, verarbeitet die Sprachdaten in der Cloud und überträgt sie auf die Meta-Server. Damit unterliegt die Datenverarbeitung nicht mehr der Kontrolle der Nutzer, sondern den Zugriffsmöglichkeiten von Meta – und letztlich auch der US-Regierung.</p><p>Das zentrale Problem dabei: Die oft angeführte Ende-zu-Ende-Verschlüsselung, mit der WhatsApp vermeintlichen Datenschutz suggeriert, greift in diesen Fällen nicht mehr.
