@ErgonWolf I'd be very careful in going into an in-patient #MentalHealth situation; Make sure that you discuss what is going to happen with the staff if at all possible *before* you go in, so you're not surprised by any element of the situation. What limitations are you going to be under, etc.? Will non-negotiable adaptive needs be met? When I went in, it was an emergency situation, and I didn't have time to find out these things in advance, which I think might have helped me handle them better.

Also finding a psychologist who deals with me as an Aboriginal person living under settler colonialism has been ground breaking for my mental health. Definitely recommend.

"The reforms come as part of a wider push by Labour to cut spending by reducing the number of people on incapacity benefits, which is forecast to reach a record high by the end of the decade.

"Experts say the increase is due to a combination of worse #MentalHealth since the #pandemic and a higher retirement age meaning some are instead claiming incapacity benefits.

"#Starmer said he is 'not prepared to stand back and do nothing while millions of people – especially young people – who have potential to work and live independent lives, instead become trapped out of work and abandoned by the system'.

The news about #pip is terrifying - PIP makes up about 33% of my income so losing it will be devastating, and there's not a lot I can do about it as my condition fluctuates. I'm having a really tough day during a really tough time, and I'm about ready to crawl into bed and not emerge again til it's all better.

Or I suppose a "behavioral health" center now, to be more politically correct.

I've been to jail and I would rather go back there. There was more to do, the guards treated me with more respect than hospital staff did - who tended to speak to you like you're stupid - and I was randomly assaulted by inmates less than patients.

In fact I was NEVER assaulted in jail.

The food was better too.

According to the 2021 census, there are 5.8 million unpaid carers in the UK, 1.2 million of those living in poverty, 400,000 in deep poverty. A report by the Social Metrics Commission found that, of the 14.9 ‘million people living in poverty in the UK in 2021-22, 8.6 million were in families that included a disabled person.
