Back cover draft for my upcoming #solarpunk #book - what do you think? would you read it?

How to Surf a Hurricane follows a daring heist set in the high-stakes world of extreme sports and cutting-edge technology, survival and environmental responsibility.

Moro, a determined engineer, is hell-bent on securing his next-generation battery prototype, which could revolutionize the energy industry. When his uncle cancels the project, Moro embarks on a risky mission to intercept the batteries during transit. His plan hinges on the help of Victoria, a fearless hurricane surfer, and a cast of colorful characters with their own agendas.

As the heist unfolds amidst a growing artificial hurricane, alliances are tested, and lives are changed forever. What starts as a calculated risk quickly turns into chaos with deadly consequences.

With its blend of action, technology, and environmentalism, How to Surf a Hurricane offers a thrilling, thought-provoking ride for fans of heist tales and speculative fiction alike.

"The Jakarta Method: Washington's Anticommunist Crusade and the Mass Murder Program that Shaped Our World", by Vincent Bevins

#Book presentation: "In 1965, the U.S. government helped the Indonesian military kill approximately one million innocent civilians. This was one of the most important turning points of the twentieth century, eliminating the largest communist party outside China and the Soviet Union and inspiring copycat terror programs in faraway countries like Brazil and Chile. But these events remain widely overlooked, precisely because the CIA's secret interventions were so successful."

#Quote from book: “I fear that the truth of what happened contradicts so forcefully our idea of what the Cold War was, of what it means to be an American, or how globalization has taken place, that it has simply been easier to ignore it.”

@BashStKid @ianb The full results are even more interesting broken down by 2024 election voting and other demographics.

For 'Have you read any books or listened to any audiobooks in the last 12 months?', The highest percentages for 'No' answers are for Reform voter, EU Leaver, Male, 18-24 and social grade C2DE.

Gah, why can’t they publish the results a machine-readable format other than PDF?ygo-assets-websites-editorial-

I'm looking for an art book or other resources about HIV/AIDS art, especially art done by groups like ACT UP & works about inadequate government response.
(Open to other illness art topics as well, but this feels most immediately relevant.)

I raided my library with the help of a very cool nonbinary librarian. We found a PILE of semi-related resources, but most only have 1-4 pages on the subject as part of other queer history or activism art texts.

☠️ My Little Black Book of Decay takes you on a journey to the world of beautiful #AbandonedPlaces.
