Sébastien Maret<p>Many universities and research institutes have their own <a href="https://scholar.social/tags/Gitlab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gitlab</span></a> or <a href="https://scholar.social/tags/Gitea" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gitea</span></a> instances, which is a good thing. But are there any plans for these instances to be federated ? It's a bit cumbersome to open a new account on a new instance every time I want to collaborate on a project. <a href="https://scholar.social/tags/openscience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>openscience</span></a></p>
rvstaveren<p>Last weekend I got the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Gitea" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gitea</span></a> act runner working on <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/FreeBSD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FreeBSD</span></a>. Nice to see how it is compatible with GitHub actions. Quite surprised to learn you a) need to do the checkout yourself (uses: actions/checkout@v4) and b) this needs a nodejs runtime which I think is quite heavy despite the functionality it offers… 🤔.<br>I also learned that these actions are sourced default from <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/GitHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GitHub</span></a>, and that can lead to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/infosecurity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>infosecurity</span></a> issues 🙄😬</p><p><a href="https://www.stepsecurity.io/blog/harden-runner-detection-tj-actions-changed-files-action-is-compromised" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">stepsecurity.io/blog/harden-ru</span><span class="invisible">nner-detection-tj-actions-changed-files-action-is-compromised</span></a></p><p>BCP seems to pin these actions to a commit</p>
