David Baumgold<p>I went to see “Maxxie LaWow” tonight: <a href="https://www.maxxie.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">maxxie.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> It’s an <a href="https://queer.dev/tags/animated" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>animated</span></a> <a href="https://queer.dev/tags/drag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drag</span></a> <a href="https://queer.dev/tags/superhero" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>superhero</span></a> movie. I was excited for a fun show!</p><p>Unfortunately, it was just bad. The rhythm and pacing were off to a painful degree — comedy is timing, and not a single joke landed. The characters felt thin and two-dimensional, and I don’t mean the art style; although I wasn’t a big fan of that, either.
